The Shifferaw Ocean Oil Leak Prevention System (SOOLPS) is a system that captures leaking oil from a damaged deep sea well and prevents the oil from spreading to other parts of the ocean and damaging the environment. The system itself is composed of a funnelshaped tarpaulin, which comes on wheels and can be deployed from an oceangoing oil tanker or container ship.
The bottom of the system will be a very wide 35' diameter tarpaulin module which is connected to a heavy ring at the base that will fit over the oil leak site and will be dropped to the floor of the ocean with either weights or anchor cables. Each subsequent module/section will be slightly narrower than the segment below it and each one will be about 250' to 500' in height.
